Drinking lots of water is important to keep ourselves away from dehydration. Although the human body is made up of 70% of water, a great amount is lost via sweat and urine. However, water is of various types even though water has no color or taste. Among them, only less than 1% is suitable for drinking. Some types of water can be better than the other types for daily consumption depending on their origin, composition, consistency, and the different purification methods they may undergo. Tap water can be found almost everywhere and it can be directly obtained from a tap. It is not only suitable for drinking but also to fulfill other household activities such as cleaning and washing clothes.
The source of tap water is generally a dam or a river. 2. Spring water
Also known as glacier water or raw water, it is obtained from natural springs found underground. Furthermore, spring water contains minerals and the composition can vary with each spring source. As it is usually free from toxic chemicals it does not require any purification too. Therefore, it has a natural taste and is safe for consumption. Additionally, spring water can be used to make coffee or tea as well as for cooking apart from drinking.
It is not practical to go to the mountains to get natural spring water. Thus, you can get spring water delivered to your home, which is cost-effective and time-saving. Although bottled spring water is quite expensive, it is one of the bests for drinking purposes. The bottling companies also conduct laboratory tests for the bottles to ensure safe packaging.
3. Mineral water
Mineral water is typically obtained from underground sources. It contains several minerals like calcium, magnesium, and manganese. Due to these mineral deposits, it is not necessary to add in any other chemicals and mineral water becomes an acceptable type of drinking water. Additionally, except for carbonation or iron removal, mineral water does not go through any specific treatment before the packaging process.
However, bottled mineral water may potentially contain harmful substances. Thus, purify mineral water using a water purifier and drink it more safely.
4. Well water
This is a main source of water mostly for those living in remote areas. When it rains, water passes through the cracks of the soil and gets collected underground. As a result, a well is drilled in order to bring groundwater to the surface level and make it available for easy collection of water.
However, well water needs to be purified before consumption as it may potentially contain lots of bacteria and other toxic chemicals.
