Tasmania's Forest Types

Native Forest

Any locally indigenous forest community containing the full complement of native species and habitats normally associated with that community, or having the potential to develop these characteristics. (Source: www.daff.gov.au)

All of Tasmania’s forests, other than plantations, are native forest. The difference between their classification as old growth, regrowth or regeneration is the age of the trees in each particular forest area.
